06-29-08 - Glacial Lakes Energy, LLC—Mina, SD Start Up: Mina began grinding corn on June 29, 2008.  Start up has gone very well with only minor issues.  We are currently performing our seven day performance test and things are looking very good.  We will ship our first load of ethanol within the next week.  Our employees are doing an excellent job and learning quickly regarding how to operate the equipment as well as the plant in general.  We have set our Grand Opening for September 4, 2008 at 11:00 am at the site.

Aberdeen Energy, LLC, a subsidary of Glacial Lakes Energy, is a 100 million gallon ethanol production plant. The plant is being constructed on a 287 acre site approximately 2 miles west of Mina, SD or 12 miles east of Ipswich, SD along US Hwy 12. The Design/Build Team will be Fagen, Inc of Granite Falls, MN and ICM, Inc of Colwich, KS.

Ethanol and ethanol co-products can be shipped by either rail or truck. The BNSF is adjacent to the site and the plant will have direct access to the rail line using its own rail spur that is designed to handle unit trains of ethanol for shipping to markets outside the local area.

This plant is a dry mill plant and will have an annual capacity of approximately 35 million bushels of corn into 100 million gallons per year.

The plant also expects to produce approximately 320,000 tons of modified wet and/or dried distillers grain (DDGS), which will be sold to local and west coast markets.
